Our Mission

Redwood Scullers (formerly Stanford Rowing Center) is a community rowing club located on the San Francisco Bay Peninsula. We row out of the Port of Redwood City, exploring the beautiful waterways around and through Bair Island, part of the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge.

Our mission is to establish and conduct a competitive, open rowing program for youth across the Bay Area Peninsula, teaching sportsmanship, teamwork, and life skills that extend far beyond the boat.

Safety is at the core of Redwood’s charter. All boats and launches are equipped with safety lights, and coaches complete a minimum of 20 hours of launch training before operating independently.

Redwood is an open club, welcoming all high school men and women, as well as athletes up to the U23 level. High school athletes may join on a one-week trial basis, and 8th-grade students and younger are accepted based on maturity. While we do not currently offer Master’s rowing, those interested in adult programs are encouraged to reach out to BIAC.
